The Great Herb Wrap "Anwickeln"

A New Frankfurt Tradition.
Craftsmanship in Motion at the Festival Market
April 28, 2026 – 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Forget the beer barrels – in Frankfurt, we celebrate the green! The Grüne Soße Festival is launching its 2026 season with a brand-new opening ritual that is uniquely our own: the official “Anwickeln”.

While other cities might tap a keg, we are honoring the hands that feed us. On Tuesday, April 28 at 4:00 PM, the freshest local herbs will arrive at Roßmarkt by tractor and move along a traditional conveyor belt. In a live showcase of local craftsmanship, nine expert farmers will hand-roll and wrap the legendary seven into their classic paper bundles right before your eyes.

This isn’t just a process; it’s a celebration of a local icon. We’re bringing the early-morning magic of the herb fields into the heart of the city to show exactly how much Frankfurt soul and hard work goes into every single package.

Program

  • 4:00 PM: Opening remarks by Frankfurt’s Mayor, Mike Josef, as the conveyor belt starts and the first official bundles are wrapped.
  • Live Music: Iconic sounds from the Frankfurt Music School Big Band.
  • Happy Hour: Raise a glass with selected drinks at special opening-day prices
  • Tasting Stations: Get your very first taste of the season at our market stalls.
  • Host: FFH Radio’s Daniel Granitzny.
Don’t miss this inaugural event! Join us on April 28 at Roßmarkt to witness the craft, taste the tradition, and kick off the festival season in true Frankfurt style. We’re counting on you!
